I was never one to wonder too much about life's purpose . I was born into an immigrant family and recognizing your feelings and finding your purpose in life weren't part of my upbringing. There were no feelings of love, only the feelings of pain from beatings when we did something "wrong " or the harsh words prior to those beatings. It's not an excuse, but it was what they were taught by family who raised them and in life you can choose to break the destructive patterns or repeat them. Still and all, that upbringing gave me the mentality of putting my head down, not expecting much out of life and to take responsibility for my actions. Funny, although I didn't understand it at the time, it's also why I probably studied psychology, not only as a major, but to understand what was going on around me. That early childhood background gave me a push through life mentality and working out, along with exceling at my career, became my focal points. A career, in the business realm, in which I worked at and exceled in for 33 years. I took on many challenges and responsibilities which earned me a good reputation. But, I can remember walking to work some mornings, and thinking "life wasn't made to be lived like this." This, being the long hours, the lack of sleep, the lack of time to do what really matters, we all know these too well. Then one day after 33 years, the company I worked for was sold for an astronomical amount and I was laid off. There was no animosity, I worked hard for them and helped to build the company into what it became and they , in turn, provided me with a good standard of living. That transitional period gave me the time to reflect on what I wanted to do and, after much thought, that led me to Life Coaching. More importantly, it gave me time to know what I didn't want to go back to doing, although I had the opportunity to go back into the same industry. I knew that there was more to this life and that this was an opportunity to do something different with mine. Many, during the pandemic, came to similar outlooks and embarked on new directions. We all have different paths to take to get to our chosen destinations. Along those paths there are feelings of anxiety, frustration, excitement, accomplishment, failure, and fear. It is during those moments that we need help. Life is not easy for any of us, but if we commit to constantly growing and getting the guidance we need, then we can certainly unburden our load as we travel that path. Let's take this journey and find that hope, that purpose, that is necessary to living our truth as we follow our own unique path.
